Hey there.

If the robots were decendents why would they need to asks David?

Did they forget?

I dont like any movie that has more than one ending. Actualy I tell a lie. Clue was a fuckin classic.

They were robots made by robots made by robots made before humans died out. The producers have said so.

As far as Blade Runner being a separate thing, I agree, so why not change Deckard's name as well?

Maybe I missed the meaning in the end. I thought they were an Alien life form from another planet. Were did you learn that they were an advanced AI robot ?

OK..I'll try to explain this..

The Advanced Mechas are much like us humans. Over time, we have evolved and we haven't seen the stuff that has happened in the past..

well, Ok, over time, the humans died out, but since the mechas could survive the cold or whatever, they went on to build more mechas, and after a while, they have evolved into better ones. The old ones eventually wore out and died. Well, those Mechas who built more mechas..they have never seen a human and experienced being around one. It's much like us and the Dinosaurs, because we have never seen or been around one, so we don't really know what they are like. Sure, there are legend and we find out stuff by digging up fossiles like we do, but one didn't know what a human was like until David came along. By going into his mind, they, for themselves, could see what a human was like. Seeing how the mechas were programed to do functions and they didnt know anything about humans or their history. You could ask David about the Civil War and he wouldn't have a clue because he wasn't programmed to know. So David had the only film footage of a hunman for the advanced Mechas to watch.

The producer talked about how the "aliens" at the end were Advanced Mechas. I also read somewhere how Kubrick thought that humans are the link between Apeman and Superhuman..as seen in 2001 and sort of in A.I.

Oh yeah! If ou look closely to the advanced Mechas, you can see gadgets and circuits going off. Their design resembles the statue outside of the Cybertron (whatever it was called) building; the Peacock David saw when he was first activated.

After seeing A.I. I vowed never to watch another Spielberg movie again. However, it looks I might have to break that promise after seeing the trailer for Minority Repor.It?s pretty dam cool looking.

Yeah, Minority Report does look good, but look who's producing it: Tom Cruise, and we say what beautiful producing he did in Vanilla Sky and MI2.

Well here's my two pennerth for what it's worth...

Before seeing the film I was excited by the ideas it was going to explore and the possibilities of the Spielberg/Kubrick combo. It didn't disappoint on an intellectual level, and the imagery was beautiful, but it just didn't tell a story very well for me.

I didn't really care about the characters, the dialogue was dull and it took too long to explore the landscape it set out to.

In my opinion :-)

The major flaw in A.I., character wise, is that throughout the film, you never see David as human, he's always a mecha, who give a crap is he dies or not?
The scene in David's creators office, where David smashes the duplicate is cool, beacuse it shows (finally) where there's love there .
I think if the film had sharpened up the Blue Fairy line, and had David trying for somthing a little more intresting it would have been better, also the transisitons between the acts was a little clumsy.
I still liked it, and it was one of the most astonishing visual delights I have ever experienced.
The dialogue, I thought, was passable, and Osment delievered one of the greatest prefromances I've seen from a child actor, Oscar worthy.

Yes Davis, Cruise is producing it, but so is Spielberg and he did pretty good on SPR. Maybe they'll offset.
